Oct. 27, 2014 / We have been doing some behind the scenes work lately in several fields to bring you a much greater and fuller experience. Both in terms of our WordPress themes user experience and in terms of what we call “our little nation”, that is, our users community.

In that sense, we have a big announcement to make that -kinda- resembles the title of this post. In the next couple of weeks we are going one hundred percent GPL licensed.

GPL license what?

In the digital products world a license is a companion document stating what you -the user- can do with a purchased or a downloaded product. Till now, our themes shipped with a divided license provided by Themeforest, protecting separately the code and the design of the themes. It is actually the most used license in Themeforest.

So why change it, you may ask.

Well, that’s the big news. We are about to release a public WordPress theme to the WordPress themes repository. It’ll be free to be downloaded for a much wider audience and we think our users community will love it. In order to publish a theme in the WordPress repository you need to embrace the open source spirit and we think it’s time we go fully into it too.

What is going to change for me?

The biggest change you are going to see is that our Nayma theme will no longer ship with Slider Revolution and Visual Composer as bundled plugins. Being that those are not fully GPL compatible plugins we cannot include them in our themes with a different license. Instead, we are building support for two amazing plugins: one for a magnificent slider and the other for a super flexible page builder, both of them completely free and downloadable from the WordPress plugin repo.

(By the way, we are completely falling in love with this page builder. It’s growing fast, it’s solid as a rock and we think you’ll love it.)

Will something change if I have those two already installed and working on my site?

Absolutely not. If you purchased Nayma with those plugins included you can still make use and enjoy them and you don’t need to change a thing on your install. While the theme won’t include them anymore on its new releases it will still support them design wise. Also, we are working out the ways to keep you updated in case any relevant updates to those plugins occur.

All in all, we are very excited to share this news with you. It’s a big step for us and we are sure it’ll open a big world of possibilities to you as a user. Comments or doubts? We want to hear you!
