Your Artisan theme can now work together with an AI assistant. With AI Concierge, you can connect Claude or ChatGPT directly to your website, and simply ask for things: “create a landing page for my new course”, “update the bio on my About page”, “add an FAQ section before the contact form”. The AI model does the work using the same modules and options you use, and you stay in control of what goes live.

This article covers everything: turning it on, connecting your AI model, working with it day to day, and what to do when something doesn’t look right.

What you’ll need

• An Artisan theme with AI Concierge included (you’ll see the AI Concierge tab in Theme Options after updating to the latest version).
• An active theme license, registered on your site. If your theme updates work, you’re all set.
• A Claude or ChatGPT account on a plan that supports custom connectors. This is a feature of paid plans on both platforms.

1. Turn it on: pairing your site

In your WordPress dashboard, go to Appearance » Theme Options » AI Concierge and click Pair this site.

That’s the whole step. Pairing registers your site with our Artisan Connect service and verifies your license. It only takes a few seconds. This prepares your site to manage AI connections, but no AI model is connected yet. That happens in step 2, where you choose which one to connect.

2. Connect your AI model

After pairing, the AI Concierge tab shows your site’s connection address. It will look like https://yoursite.com/wp-json/artisan/mcp with a Copy button next to it. This is the address you’ll give to your AI model.

Then follow the guide for the platform you use:

If you use Claude

1. Open claude.ai » Settings » Connectors.
2. Click Add custom connector.
3. Give it any name you like (your site’s name works great) and paste your connection address as the URL.
4. Click Connect. A browser window will bring you back to your own site (log in if asked) where you’ll see exactly what the AI model will be allowed to do. Click Allow access.
5. That’s it. In any chat, enable the connector from the tools menu and start talking to your website.

If you use ChatGPT

1. Open ChatGPT » Settings » Connectors. On some plans this lives under Apps & Connectors, and custom connectors may require enabling “Developer mode” there first.
2. Click Create (or Add connector) and paste your connection address as the server URL.
3. Follow the sign-in window it opens, you’ll land back on your site. Click Allow access.
4. Done. Enable it in a conversation and ask away.

Your team can connect too

AI Concierge isn’t only for the site owner. Anyone on your site with an Editor account or above can connect their own Claude or ChatGPT, using the same connection address.

Each person approves access with their own WordPress login:

• Each person’s AI model works with their own permissions. An Editor’s AI model can build and edit pages, but can’t touch site-wide settings (those need an administrator).
• The activity log (at the bottom of the AI Concierge tab) records who asked for every change.

Since only administrators can see Theme Options, if you need to give access to AI Concierge to users who are not administrators, share this link with your team members instead: yoursite.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=artisan-ai-connect — it shows them the connection address and the same step-by-step guides.

What to expect when working with it

It works in drafts. When the AI model builds or reworks a page, it creates a draft and gives you a private preview link. Nothing will go live until you tell it to publish (and you can always publish yourself from WordPress, like any other page).

It can see its own work. The AI model can take a real screenshot of the page it’s building — even as a draft — check the result, and fix what doesn’t look right. Feel free to ask it to do exactly that: “show me a screenshot before I decide.”

It knows your site’s style. It can read the colors and settings you’re actually using across your pages and match them, so new sections feel like part of your site.

It uses your modules. Everything it builds is made of the same modules you’d use yourself, which means you can always open any page it created and fine-tune it by hand, in the front-end editor or anywhere else. Nothing is locked away.

The first conversation will likely ask for a few permissions. Your AI platform will ask before using each tool the first time. That’s their safety feature, and a good one. Choose “Always allow” and it won’t ask again for that action. Actions with real consequences, like publishing, will still check with you, by design.

What it can and can’t do

Once connected, the AI model can: create and edit pages and their modules, rearrange sections, use your Module Presets and Artisan Pages as building blocks, upload images, adjust module and page settings, write custom CSS refinements in the same CSS boxes you’d use, and (for administrators) change Theme Options.

It can’t: install plugins, manage users, touch other people’s connections, or do anything on your site beyond what your own account could do. It acts as you, with your own permissions.

Staying in control

Everything lives in Theme Options » AI Concierge:

• AI activity log — Every change made through AI Concierge, with the action, the details, and the team member behind it.
• Reset all AI connections (under “Manage this connection”) — Signs out every connected AI model. Each person simply approves access again. Good for a periodic clean-up or when someone leaves the team.
• Disconnect this site entirely — The off switch. All connections are revoked and the AI features are completely removed from your site, as if you’d never paired. You can pair again anytime.

Troubleshooting

The Pair button gives me a license error. Pairing requires an active license registered on this site, the same one that powers your theme updates. Check Theme Options » General » Theme License, and make sure this domain is set on your license in your Artisan Dashboard. If your license expired, renewing it and pairing again fixes it.

My AI model says the site is “not paired” when connecting. Step 1 hasn’t happened (or the site was disconnected). Pair from Theme Options » AI Concierge first, then try connecting again.

I can’t find where to add a connector in Claude or ChatGPT. Custom connectors are a paid-plan feature on both platforms, and ChatGPT keeps them behind a “Developer mode” toggle on some plans. If you don’t see the option, check your plan’s settings under Connectors.

It asks for permission on every single action. Choose “Always allow” when prompted instead of “Allow once”. Your AI platform remembers it per action, and the friction will disappear after the first conversation.

Everyone’s AI models got disconnected at once. Someone clicked “Reset all AI connections” or re-paired the site, both of which revoke existing connections on purpose. Everyone can just reconnect with a fresh approval.

A preview link stopped working. Preview links for drafts are private and expire after a short while on purpose. Ask your AI model for a fresh one: “give me a new preview link for that page.”

Good to know

• Multiple sites? Each site pairs on its own and becomes its own connector in your AI model. Name them something close to your website: “My portfolio”, “The bakery site”, and so on. You can even have the AI model look at one site and build something similar on another, in the same conversation.
• Security, in short: connections use the same authorization standard (OAuth) that lets apps connect to your Google account — no passwords are ever stored in your AI platform, every connection is approved by a logged-in member of your site, and you can revoke everything with one click.
